Community Intervention Model “GEBRAK” for Optimalize Teenager Participation on Voluntary Counseling and Test in Yogyakarta
Abstract
The high stigma and discrimination against the prevention of HIV/AIDS transmission in Indonesia is influenced by a less precise understanding of HIV/AIDS. This is the background of the innovation of Community Empowerment called GEBRAK (Do with Cadres). Research aims to determine the influence of GEBRAK on youth participation in VCT (Voluntary Counseling and Test). Experimental research posttest only group control design conducted in 50 youth of Sinduadi Village as a group of treatment and 50 youth of Sendangadi Village as a control group in April to September 2019. There are two stages of GEBRAK, namely the establishment of SETIA (Adolescent Cadres of HIV/AIDS) at the village. Furthermore, the implementation of community education, both at the village and rural level. The series of events are Zumba gymnastics, HIV/AIDS talkshow, and VCT free. After the intervention was given, the posttest was conducted in the form of VCT implementation in both groups. Data collection via the VCT table master, and analyzed with the Mann-Whitney u test. As a result, there are differences in VCT participation between teenagers in Sinduadi Village and the youth of Sendangadi Village or the influence of GEBRAK innovations on the youth participation in the VCT (Asymp. Sig value < 0.05). GEBRAK has been agreed by the Department of Health, Primary Health Care, Subdistrict, and Village as the acceleration program Getting to Three Zeroes: Zero New HIV Infection, Zero AIDS Related Death, and Zero Stigma and Discrimination.
