Relationship Of Breastfeeding And Diet With The Incidence Of Stunting In Toddlers
Abstract
Background: Stunting is a form of growth failure due to the long-term accumulation of insufficient nutrition in toddlers. In 2022, it is estimated that there will be 148.1 million children under the age of 5 worldwide who will be affected by stunting. In 2022, it is estimated that there will be 148.1 million children under the age of 5 worldwide who will be affected by stunting. This research aims to determine the relationship between breastfeeding and diet with the incidence of stunting in toddlers aged 24-60 months. Methods: This research uses a cross-sectional method. Respondents in the study were 34 respondents, taken using simple random sampling. Data were collected using a questionnaire and height measurement using microtoise. Data were analyzed using the Fisher's Exact test with significance α < 0.05. Results: The results of the bivariate analysis in this study showed that there was a significant relationship between breastfeeding and the incidence of stunting (p value = 0.014* and OR = 1.500), and there was a significant relationship between diet and the incidence of stunting (p value = 0.048* and OR = 0.769). Conclusion: There is a relationship between breastfeeding and eating patterns with the incidence of stunting. It is hoped that this research can increase public awareness of the importance of providing exclusive breast milk and implementing correct eating patterns based on the amount, type, and frequency of food according to the nutritional needs of toddlers.
