SEKS PRANIKAH DI KALANGAN REMAJA: PERAN PENGETAHUAN REPRODUKSI DAN KECERDASAN EMOSIONAL
Abstract
Background: Teenage premarital sex is a problem that is rapidly gaining attention due to the detrimental effects it can have on one's physical, mental, and social well-being. During this complex developmental stage, adolescents' views and sexual behaviour-related decision-making are greatly influenced by their understanding of reproductive health and emotional intelligence. An inability to control one's emotions and a lack of knowledge about reproductive health can raise the likelihood of accepting premarital sex. This study aims to examine the association between adolescents' attitudes toward premarital sexual behaviour and their emotional intelligence and reproductive health knowledge. Method: A cross-sectional design was used in this study. 171 participants were selected using a simple random sampling procedure. The Chi Square Test was utilized for data analysis. Results: Premarital sexual attitudes and reproductive health knowledge did not correlate, according to statistical tests (p = 0.837). However, a correlation between premarital sexual views and emotional intelligence is indicated by the p value of 0.002. Conclusion: Adolescent attitudes toward premarital sexual behaviour cannot be influenced just by cognitive understanding. However, people with higher emotional intelligence tend to see sexual behaviour more responsibly and positively.
