Breastfeeding Technique Education Method to Improve Mother's Skills
Abstract
The Ministry of Health indicated that the exclusive breastfeeding coverage in the Special Region of Yogyakarta in 2023 was 74.7%, when the national target is 80%. Approximately 67.5% of mothers who do not exclusively breastfeed claim insufficient comprehension of appropriate breastfeeding techniques as the reason. Objectivet this study aims to determine the effect of education on proper breastfeeding techniques for primipara postpartum mothers on their breastfeeding skills at TPMB (Midwifery Clinic) Anisa Mauliddina. Method This research employed a pre-experimental one-group pretest and posttest design. The population consisted of postpartum mothers who delivered vaginally between October and November 2024, totaling 21 individuals. The instrument used in this study was an observation checklist for breastfeeding techniques. Data analysis was conducted using univariate analysis and bivariate analysis with the Wilcoxon rank test. Sampling was performed using quota sampling from February to April 2025, resulting in 17 respondents. Based on bivariate analysis using the Wilcoxon rank test, a p-value of 0.000 was obtained, which is < 0.05, indicating a significant difference in breastfeeding skills among primipara postpartum mothers before and after receiving education on breastfeeding techniques. Conclusion there is a significant effect of providing education on proper breastfeeding techniques for primipara postpartum mothers on their breastfeeding skills at TPMB Anisa Mauliddina, Sleman.
