Pengetahuan calon pengantin tentang pemeriksaan HIV pra-nikah
Abstract
Background: Pre-marital HIV screening for brides-to-be is very important as a preventive effort to prevent the risk of transmission to their spouses or children. The earlier it is detected, it is hoped that the chain of transmission to the couple can be prevented easily. However, there are still many brides-to-be who are reluctant to take this test due to various factors such as lack of knowledge, social stigma, and anxiety. This study aims to identify the level of knowledge of prospective brides about pre-marital HIV screening as well as the factors that affect attitudes and compliance in undergoing this examination. Methods: This study used the Literature Review method by reviewing articles from the Google Scholar database and PubMed published between 2021-2025. From the 80 articles identified, 10 articles were selected based on the inclusion criteria and analysed using a thematic approach. Objectives: This study aimed to identify the level of knowledge of prospective brides about pre-marital HIV testing and the factors that influence their
attitudes and adherence to this testing. Results: The results show that out of 10 articles stated that the knowledge of prospective brides about HIV/AIDS is quite high. However, there is still a gap between knowledge and action, as only about 55% undergo pre-marital HIV testing despite having a positive attitude towards HIV. The main factors that influence the decision to examine are partner support, social stigma, and anxiety. Conclusion: Broader education through media such as leaflets and modules, strengthening social support, and psychosocial interventions are needed to increase awareness and readiness of prospective brides to undergo pre-marital HIV testing.
